“Insecta” (Classical Âirumâli: vałâmfir) is a collective term for tauric beings whose lower halves are insectile in form. Subgroups of insectae include:

• Hymenopterans (bees, wasps, hornets), especially genus Megarhyssa
• Cicadas
• Lepidopterans (butterflies, moths)
• Ants
• Mantises (who are noted for their psionic abilities, and a direct connection between their wings and their brains, making the former incredibly sensitive but also allowing them to act as psionic antennae/amplifiers)
• Dragon- and damselflies
• Grasshoppers and katydids

All have naturally occurring gynomorphs (or are monogendered), and are known for being well-endowed & having coremata regardless of congruency with lower-half species, as well as retaining extensible sets of insectile mouthparts.

Megarhyssa-taurs were one of several peoples to independently invent writing, using their ovipositors as pens or styli of a sort.
